Rockport Report
#1
Fished Rockport the last two days with limited success. Sunday tried where the river comes, but I forgot my jigs and bait gear, so I went flyfishing. Caught a couple small rainbows with a prince nympth on sinking line.

Monday tried again with my bait gear and caught some perch by the dam. No trout and one 15" smallie with a dead crawdad I caught. What is up with rockport....I catch plenty
of trout icefishing, but never any in the summer.

Thanks for the report catfish77. Welcome to BFT, it's nice to have you here.

I think the water is still a little too warm for the trout to get really active. Give them another week or two and I think they'll come up from the deeper water to feast in the shallows. Good luck next time you head out.

On Sep. 6 a friend and I caught 4 nice rainbows in an hour and a half with power bait. Unfortunatly we had to leave even though the fishing was still hot, had to go into the office. Them rainbows sure fight. We fished off the bottom, tied on a slip sinker then about three feet of leader so the power bait would float up off the bottom. I was my first time there. Would like to go back to the same spot to see if it was just luck.

Wish I could expain it better. On the rocky shore line that runs against the main road. There was a pulloff and an outhouse where we pulled over and walked down to the water. I know I will be able to find it when I go back, just did'nt pay enough attention to give good directions.
