My wife and I got there 7:45 AM thanks to a stalled train at the crossing on Simco Rd that had lost it's air. We lost a half hour waiting.
I would NOT recommend the Strike Dam Rd. They put gravel on the 3 miles of unpaved road and it is extremely washboarded. I hope they get it paved one of these days. Until then I will be going thru the Simplot area and back toward Strike.
I ended up catching 5 legal bass, 3 Large and 2 Smallies. My biggest Large was 16 3/4 inches, definitely spawned out, no belly to it at all. My Smallie was 15 1/2 inches. I figure I had 8 to 10 lbs if I had been fishing a tourney. Probably not a winning weight but not too bad. We gave up at 12:30 as it was getting quite warm with no breeze.
I had quite the scary experience, we were down the Snake River arm by the big balls when I had a hit that jerked my rod right out of my hand. Luckily it fell in the boat right on the edge and I jumped on it before it went out. I still had the fish on and reeled it in and it got off right at the boat. Looked like a pretty nice Smallie. I was looking at losing my favorite Shimano Compre rod and a fairly new Curado reel. Thank the lord I was able to grab it even tho I half killed myself jumping on it. My wife was laughing and wished she had a movie of it. I didn't think it was that funny.[:/]
As Forgiven said we got to meet at the ramp. I was looking for him out on the lake as I knew he was going to be there. I talked to another green Nitro owner thinking it was Kevin but it was a Snake River Bassmaster member prefishing for his tourney next weekend. Idahojeep probably knows him, I told him about our forum so maybe he'll join us.
I hope Forgiven figures out what is wrong with his motor cause that Nitro is one pretty looking boat. A lot brighter and flashier than the pictures. We had a great time meeting him and his wife. We need to have another get together with the western members like we did a few years back now that there are a lot more of us. It's really great to put faces with the names on here.
I'll throw in a couple of pics of my two big fish.

thats too bad about the motor. i had motor issues and major breakdown so now i got a brand new one with no hassles. soory the fishing was slow for you. must have the magic baits. nice fish for bob on the bruneau. i took the shortcut road last time and not again. it had been in good shape but not anymore. apparently (from insiders) they ran out of money to finish paving. why bother doing 1/2 when the dirt is too bad to use.

Interesting trip, Bob:
Bad Road
Good Fish
Whoops! There goes my rod.
My wife always laughs at all my slips, slides, and other missteps, and then catches bigger fish than I do. Luckily, she goes exercising most mornings, so I take my dog Fudge. He sorta snickers now and then, but never does laugh at me.

It wasnt slipping at all and then bam....any thoughts?

Bummer, Might be something let go in your lower unit. There is no clutch that I know of.
What size motor do you have? Might just be the shear pin on the prop shaft.

Hey forgiven...It has been relayed to me that my prop is slipping on the bushing...since there is no clutch to speak of and it pushes under 1500 rpms...so I'll put my old crappy prop on and see what happens...keep ya posted
