Hyrum trout?
#1
Does any one have any recent Hyrum reports for trout? I am hoping to take my boy there soon. Does it pick up in the fall for trout?

I heard that it was recently stocked with 15,000 should be pretty good fun for the kids.

Ya know - I haven't seen any Hyrum reports all summer. Been wondering if that "means" something.

I know as the water cools, and the ski-squad chills out - the trout spend more time on the surface. Last fall - think it was more like October - we did great in the late afternoon/evening. Trolled around the southside, and up towards the inlet. Dragged flies - on a fly rod, bubble/fly with pistol petes, and various spoons - mostly on a side-planer. Didn't bother with the down riggers of pop gear.
The hot ticket seemed to be a buoyant orange spoon with spots. But we had hits on everything. They were pretty much footlong planter bows, but frisky. Kept us busy.

Be curious to know if anyone got any reports. Look forward to hitting the hard-deck up there again this year. My son had a real good time with that, and has mentioned it several times.

My rents are actually camping there right now, and have been doing a little fishing. It has been slow for them, but my mom has caught 2 of them. One was a little bugger, the other was pretty decent. They are using orange and yellow power eggs on the bottom.

Ya had me thinking good things for fall, until I checked the report:

Little under-impressed. But - as you say - frisky bites for the kids anyway.

They had dumped some more in the back on the 15th too, some 18K, but all about 5 inchers. Might be good fodder for spring, or able to get in the way under the ice.
Maybe if they'd included some of the 10"-footers that got dumped in the Logan River.

Maybe last years tiger trout fingerlings are getting some size to 'em. Unless the big browns got 'em all!

Jdawg - were they floating or fishing from the bank? By the campground? Wonder if they dropped them all in by the launch? Probably be hanging around the docks like the baby tigers seemed to be.

Was there last wendsday and saw two loads of trout get dumped in. At the ramp I notice a ton of trout all around. Looked like all sizes of them too, mostly 10"er's though. In years past we have got into them around the ramp after they get dropped off they'll hang right there for a while.

Let's hope those 10" grow a bit before Ice Season.

My nephew told me that friend of his watched them dump a truck load in on Wednesday. We went Saturday and slayed the little fellers. boated fifty or more, trolling with spinners. A lot of fun & fight for 10" trout. Also there are a grundle of 3" bass, couldn't keep them off a worm.

I have been biting my lip for a bit now but I will let it out. For 6 hours there was not a single other soul on the lake till 11 am when 1 other boat showed up. Nice and glassy all day.
