Henry's report 12/20
#1
Well was planning on going up this morning early and couldn't sleep so at 4:30 I left the burg and headed up. Got on the ice by 5:45 between the county dock and Staley's . Went out a ways looking for fresh ice. Fished till almost 7:45 and didn't have any type of bites So I loaded up and headed to the state dock. There were a few people out and I went off by my loansome and by the time I finished my 2nd hole I had a hit on a meal worm that I had just dropped in. Got it in and reset and drilled a few more holes. I had 2 rods on a still setup with spring bobbers on them and just a meal worm on a hook. Then a 2 more rods setup to jig one with grey/white paddle bugs and one with a marabou jig. At first the majority of the fish came off jigging then as the morning went on it shifted to the opposite. All in all I ended up icing 29 fish and finished up about 12:30. Here are a few of the fish.

I felt pretty good about it with it being my 2nd time fishing through the ice. Not sure what would happen if I got onto a hard lake to fish lol.

Thanks don. I tend to just take advice and then do my own thing. It usually works out for me, keeps me learning.
Fool I'm looking at going up on Thurs , if your down by the state dock and see a a guy fishing in snowmobile gear and using a quad say hi.

Great that you got into them. Less and less people are finding ones willing to bite. Most have been hit hard with the easy access this winter.

Awsome!!!!!!! I have been itching to catch a nice brookie over a pound in weight. The last brookie I caught at a pound was back in the 1960's on the upper end of Mackay Res. Now I am giving away how old I am. Really tempted to head to Henry's Lake but my health has been a little poor lately. Just waiting to get over a cold. Will have to miss the Henry's hard deck fishing season--ouch!!!! Good luck to you who can go. Post pictures for us who can't. We will live vicariously thru your trips to Henry's Lake. Good fishing!!

Well went up and fished this am, was cold. Ended up getting up there a little late due to bad roads. Started fishing about 745ish. Hung meal worms produced squat but black marabou jigs, white tube jigs, and paddle bugs all active pulled fish at a pretty steady rate till 930ish and it shut right off. I had a sledding buddy with me and we iced 14 between us. We picked up 3 more guys that their augers ran out of fuel.......and I wanted them to do some catching so I invited them over to where we were at. They ended up with 6 or 7 between them. You can't get past the restrooms at The state parking lot due to The drifting. Another decent wind storm and I would predict the road over will be blown shut. Also the ice on the south side is thicking pretty fast. Same area from past sat to today gained between 6-8 inches.
