I have never even been there but was recently talking to some guys that said they have ice fished there years ago and it was fairly productive. Just curious about conditions and what type of fish one might expect to catch. I understand a huge Brown was taken from there some time ago so why do I not hear more about it. A guy I work with says he thinks it is because most people who head North to fish just keep going to Island Park and Henry's and never bother to stop there.

Pretty sure its closed this winter due to safety issues because of Tue work on the dam.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of any project going on, but we can wait for another year or whaever it takes. I just like having a variety of places to go that don't require a long drive and it is definately a spot I will want to try whenever it is reopened.

Yeah, its closed, however, when you fish it next year make sure you check the ice conditions very carefully it does not freeze evenely. I have had some good days up there keep it on your mind!

Ashton is the most dangerous ice I have ever fished. It is just is too unpredictable.
