Manic Custom Lures?
#1
Has anyone found any other jig heads that manic makes. All i can find is 1/64 or just white ones in the 1/16. I was woundering if they made heavier ones and different colors.

I haven't seen them in the stores, but check their website and I'm pretty sure they have a few more options.

Maniac produces plastics. The have a few jig heads but you can use any jig head with a Maniac plastic jig.
I pour my own jig heads and I prefer lighter jigs. My go to jig heads for Maniac plastics are 1/32 oz and 1/64 oz on size 6 jig hooks.

Don't worry about the color of the jig head too much. White and green heads will work on any color plastic jig.

you could also check in with Tubedude - he pours an array of very effective jig heads. As noted Maniac's real strength is their plastics.

Pink gizillas were on fire for Trout - and the Gizzybugs are great for panfish. The white and GLOW are awesome. I'll bet they've even got a pumpkin pepper!

One thing I like for jigheads and plastics is the little "pin" that holds the plastic in place. A dab of superglue will do it too.

+1, Maniac lures are awesome. Just cause you have a maniac lure doesn't mean you need a special jig head. Pick up any jighead you want and put it in there. I personally love the cutt'r lures with a long skinny cylinder jig head. PS I've had great success with the unpainted jig heads, it's the lure that's working the fish anyway.

[cool][#0000ff]As you have been advised, there are a lot of jig heads that will serve well to hold the plastics. Some plain shank...some with small barbs. If your plastic is super soft it may be preferable to use a non-barbed head...to avoid tearing up the plastic.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Size of head and size of hook are both matters of personal preference. If you are fishing without a flasher or some other heavier jig on the line, it is tough to get a light head to sink very fast...or to take the coils out of the line to allow feeling a light bite. That is where it is a good idea to hang the bitty bite under a flasher...or use it as a dropper.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Depending on the size of the plastic and how much bait you put on the hook you can use anywhere from a size 10 to a size 6 hook. Make sure you get good hooks with good temper. Very frustrating to have a large trout bend a wimpy hook straight as you are trying to get it through the hole.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Colors for jig heads are another matter of personal preference. Yes, you can catch fish on plain lead head jigs...if you have a good plastic and some tasty bait...and if the fish are active. But there are times when a bit of extra color can help. Examples are using heads with bright contrasting colors...to increase visibility. Hot red, orange or pink on a white or pearl jig can sometimes greatly increase the number of hard hits you get. Similarly, having a jig head with an eye on it adds appeal to some fish.[/#0000ff]

Check out our Vertigo Jigs on our web site. These jigs keep your plastic lure horizontal at all times, thus creating more strikes from the natural presentation.
With the vertigo jig there is no worry of knot position.
Good luck and good fishing!

1/8, 1/16, and even a 1/4. Those would be good for the cutter bugs.

Ok thanks. I looked on manic custom lures.com. I must have just not seen them. I seen some 1/16 white ones. I'll have to order some of them up.
