Went by Hyrum this afternoon and there was one tent by the dam, although I'm clueless as to how they got there. Most of reservoir looked to be thin layer of slush anywhere from 5 to 30 feet out from shore before hitting anything ice of substance. Certainly that was the case by the main entrance and boat ramp when I stooped and walked down shore line. It's gonna take a good bit of cold to freeze it enough for me.

Heya Chuck! I drove by there this morning as well. But since I didn't have a 20' plank I decided to head to Mantua instead.
I'm thinking Newton is next on the agenda.
Good to see you again on here!

I'm wondering if those edges will freeze up this week.

I drove by newton saturday nobody was on the ice, 15 to 20 feet of open water around the dam and everywhere that was visable from the road. Unsure if it has changed since saturday.

So I wonder if a bunch of water flowed into Newton - to raise the ice, or if the edges just melted with all that rain. I'll bet Hyrum gets edges back sooner. But I sure hope Newton caps up!
Euge - you thinking of going up Sat or Sun? If I can talk Lava into it - we'll probably give it a try Sat - early. Maybe oughta bring the inflatable boat, can row out to the ice then float the sled over!!!
See if anyone has any updates this week. Might take the kids down to Mantua some afternoon. Wed or Thurs. At least there's still good ice there, even if there's hardly any fish!

I might go take a peak at if Friday Afternoon to see if Saturday will be good. I will post what I see. If it is not going to happen, I will probably head further North to Chesterfield.

So - if you're still talking Newton on this Hyrum post [laugh] hell or high water - we're getting on Newton ice on Sat. Just gotta hope the main sheet is good and solid!
With any luck - the new fish-finder will lead us to the action!!!!

Yote congrats on the new finder. I've been busy and haven't kept up what did you get? That will be fun and keep you busy while the murky water has slowed your bites down. After my double skunk I'm taking a break to catch up on other things. Now if I heard a good report at the pig I'd probably change my plans but seems a little slow lately. Good luck with the new toy. Later J
