Got to the dam after work at almost 4 so we didnt have much time to look around. Figured with the last two days in the 60s that the shallow bite would be getting better. Ran up to first spot and immediately notice the water had dropped a few feet emoBang We fished the whole pocket on the banks and out in the middle from 2fow to 11fow and nothing was happening. You could see schools of bait all over but nothing feeding. We were heading out when Jeff set the hook and a big fish headed right at the boat but I saw his line doing figure 8s and knew it probably wasnt a bass emoAngry He pulled up a drum that was maybe 7 to 8lbs and that was the only bite. Water temp of 50 and bait all over this aint right. emoScratch It was 5:00 now so we went to a pocket closer to the ramp and fished from the deep bank all the way back to the flat and I was sitting there thinking SKUNK. I started throwing a shallow square bill just to cover water faster and just before we got to the shallowest part I get bit and pull in a squeaker. Make a couple casts to the same spot and got hit again this time by a fat 2.5 lber. Im thinking I just caught a male and female together maybe emoQuestion That was it for this trip. One drum and two small bass but at least I was able to get out there. Not many boats at all and fair weather made it all worth going.
