Got on the ice at 1pm my 11yr old son caught our family's very first tiger muskie by 130. Have caught three perch still here gonna be till five or so any info to help up our perch count would be great!

I have never fished Newton, so no help on the perch hunt. It looks like I need to think about driving up there though. I'd love one of those monster tigers on the end of my ultra light [].

I have never ice fished it before so I canot help. Although nice tiger muskie! I caught my 1st one at Newton too. That fish will be a "forever memory" for you and your kid! Awesome job. Who needs perch when you can catch those![]

Well you found our holes, and found MY Musky! (can I photoshop my head onto that shot for the Ice Challenge? haha! - it was my last best hope! )
Just be glad you weren't wearing slippers like ME, when I arrived. Twood make for chill toes!

Although we saw lots of marks on the finders, I think there was lots of debris in the water too - very murky, and lots of little critters in the water - every time I'd reel in - seemed like a cloud of planktonic creatures came up too.

Seemed like the perch wanted some action. Deadsticking it wasn't getting it done. Saw up and down movement and they did seem to want to follow a jig up. I tried ALL kinds of stuff - horizontal seemed more productive than vertical. Bob swore by an orange ratfinkee. We at almost 50 feet, but seemed to do better in more like 40 feet.

Add one bass man I got to start leaving the boy at home he's caught all the fish but I will tell ya to watch him get that tiger in on 4 pound test was a thrill got my blood pumping nothing Like kids and s he told me its his favorite lake even though its our first time up here!

Very nice! Glad to see you guys having fun. Your son's is priceless. Like coyote said, water has been really murky. We indeed were marking lots of fish, but not sure exactly why we couldn't get more to take. We tried a variety of different baits. Ended up with perch, bluegill, bass, and one crappie. It was a nice day though.

Ben, Coyote, I think all those fish in that lake have been eating well...with all the plankton and what not. Could very well be why it's been overall pretty slow there.
