crawdad help??
#1
Hey my son saw my neighbors crawdad trap and is wanting me to take him to utah lake to try to catch some as we had a few grab onto our nightcrawlers the last time we were fishing at utah lake and on the jordan river.

Do any of you crawdad chasers ever catch them out of the jordan river by the pumphouse or down the river?

We were down the river a ways last time and had a few big crawdads grab our nightcrawlers and hang on just long enough to get a look at them. My son is wanting to try to build a crawdad trap and try to go down and catch some while we are fishing.

Any info would be great here or pm Please thanks and good luck fishin

[cool][#0000ff]Not sure how active they will be in this colder water, but there are usually some bugs around the base of the gates...out of the fast flow.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Howsomever, I would use them only for bait...not human consumption. The mudbugs out of there taste like...well..."mud".[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Much better to find a clean water environment to harvest your 'dads. If you get a chance to hit Strawberry or Scofield you will do well. Otherwise, East Canyon is probably the closest and it can be pretty lean.[/#0000ff]
