anyone know were a good spot is to catch the trout in starvation from the bank, was looking to take the kids up for some action

From shore, just try PB, worm/marshmallows, and the like until you find the combo. Also, jigs, tubes, spinners, spoons, regular trout stuff, and wolly bugger on a sunken bubble rig.

There are chubs and perch in there, as well as invertebrates.

Go to the boat launch and just turn left and go to the turn around and fish the north facing shore and use the yellow corn cheese bait.. Fish Tech has it and can help you out..
