I went fishing at CJ Strike Fri, Sat and Sun. Friday i went after work hit the lake about 430 and 2 of us caught over 30 bass the first one was a nice 14.5 incher thick fella. Saturday went on the pontoon with the fam. we did not fist too much just played on the lake and i got in trouble because i would not let the kids get in the water...still a little cold. they played and put their feet in. We went to the narrows and a bunch of boats were there, we just used the trollin motor and looked for fish with my HDS with structure scan not too much on the sides but there were a few small schools in the middle..we caught one. Well i caught one. It is hard to bass fish from a pontoon but the winds were calm so i tried the wife, kids and dogs played on the boat and read books whilst i bassed fished. I fished for about an hour and caught 10 fish. most were over 12 inches. Biggest was 14.5 kids got loud so i let them drive the boat for a bit. Sunday mornin i went out at the butt crack of dawn (BCofD) with my buddy in his boat...what a day. Real calm in the morn so we tried top water. Nothing there yet! I love top water. We went to fishing crank baits. This might have been my best day for big fish in CJ in 10 years. I have a speacial lure that i cant find anymore. I have found many colors like it but it does not work. This one is wore out. I will change the treble hooks before i go next time. We did well. We left about 1100 and had over 40 fish caught, kept none(let them grow) i was doing way better than my buddy until i let him borrow one of my few left known to man lures. I caught a nice fat 16 incher and within 2 casts later i had a 17 1/4 incher. Those were both chuncks. We had a lot of fun. we had 3 double hook ups. They are schooling together. I cannot tell anybody about my secret crankbait except Idahoron if he wanted to know. He has helped me a ton in the last few years. I really enjoy your comments and posts.
On another note CJ had a bass tourney Sat. Not a lot of fish caught from the boats i talked to at the boat ramp. The guys i talked to cranked and wormed but never had the luck we had. Noone from boats were catching any crappy or perch to speak of. It will be on before to long.
