Blacktail Monster

so my wife/kids ran up to have a quick boat ride around the lake. We were only there 2 hrs. After loading the boat on the trailer a gentleman approached me and asked if I by chance had a good scale that he could use to weigh his fish. I told him sure so he ran to grab his cooler. I was thinking "what could he have caught out of here that needs a scale...maybe a big walleye?

Nope...when he opened the cooler I could believe it.... A huge german brown! It weighed 9.8lbs[Smile] He told me his wife landed it and she really doesn't enjoy fishing that much...of course[crazy]

He was very bright in color, a large male with a nice hooked jaw. The head/mouth was big enough to swallow those ducks you see on the lake! I imagine he has been enjoying the cutties as well as the kokanee for a few years now.[cool]

Since I still can't seem to get my droid razor and my mac computer to talk to each other...if someone wants to pm their cell, I'll forward you the pic I took. Then if you want to load the fish for others to look at that would be great. It doesn't do the fish justice but wow, that was a pig!![Smile] I only got a first name and I can't even remember that! They were trolling rapalas through the narrows.

And all these years I have been going to Henry's for the big fish. Gonefishing and I were taking the boat out about the same time the photo was taken. We picked up a couple of kokanee but it is still a little early for them

What a great fish. I knew they were in there but have never caught one. I did manage this nice bass a couple of weeks ago.

That is a toad! Years ago I knew a guy who fished Ririe every fall, specifically targeting big browns and he was very successful. I figured they were all gone, as I have not seen a brown in Ririe for years. Good to see there are at least a few still around.

Yes the largemouth came out of ririe. Caught him in the meadow creek area on a 2 inch motor oil tube. Landed one other about five years ago trolling a black and gold rapala by the grass campground aroud the corner from blacktail. Kinda cool when you reel up something you are not expecting.
