we ended up catching 40 to 50 smallies with the biggest at 2. most of them were 12 to 13 inches. hammering jerkbaits. beware there is a ton of floating wood and yes you will hit some. also snagged an over 20lb carp which was about a 20 minute fight. water was 59 to 65. also hooked myself all the way to the bend . hooks are sharp.

Sounds like a good trip, except for the hook. Hope it was barbless!!!

Ouch!

Glad you caught some fish. I'm taking next week off so I will be spending a couple of days there.

He is not kidding if you don't want to hit wood with your boat/prop don't go. Some spots are solid debris from one side to the other. I got a couple of tiny dings in my stainless prop from wood.
On Sunday we spent most of the day exploring but managed to catch a few bass with the largest #2 and two #10 channel cats one on a jerkbait that was a fun fight I bet that carp was a blast.
Thanks for the tips I.L.S it definitely sped up my unusually slow learning curve.

I guess I'll go to woodhead since we will be there a couple of days. Should be clear of debris up closer to the dam.

i talked to some tourney guys who launched from woodhead and they said there were some debris fields on that end also. just beware. if its slightly choppy you will not see them until its 2 late. if its glass then you dont have to worry.

The disturbing part was my fish finder was marking partialy submerged logs and debris just under the surface while on plain.
That definitely brings up the pucker factor!
