Strawberry 5/27/2012
#1
Texted Starkinkaid last night and we decided we'd head out to strawberry despite the bad weather reports.

Got up there at about 7:00 or 7:30

There were alot of snowy boats/trailers parked everywhere but nobody was out fishing. We worked the banks for a while to no avail. Saw a few Trout rising here and there but no takers.

We decided to move, and from that point it was ON. We caught a bunch of big fat bows and Kinkaid caught a nice Cut.

The weather would go back and fourth from sunny with a little wind, to huge snowflakes blowing completely sideways in the strong winds.

We watched a few groups come and go and finally left by about 2, muddy and wet. Day well worth it though.

Blah blah blah ......a little snow. [cool] Been dealing with it for three days. The wind was the worse part. Fishing was hot during the flakes, specially dry flies!
Today (Mon.) is sunny and warm. Fish is steady. What a wonderful weekend.

We also went up Sunday, got there around 6:30, not a soul in sight. Fishing started slow till we started using a fly and bubble then we did really well. Biggest was a 22 inch plus cutt that was real fat and heavy.

Nice fish bowhunter i thought about putting the fly on a bubble, wish I had, fishing was still fast with bait though. Wish I coulda stayed over FG but I have family stuff I am doing today. I'll have to take my boat up and stay over a weekend this year though.

They liked a Brown Elk Hair Caddis #12 and an Irish Spring Chironomid from the shore. Out on the pontoon, Bunny Leeches and Midnight Fire Buggers.

Went down to the lake side for a few minutes before heading home. Wind was picking up and blowing in my face so roll casting was not happening. I stood facing the shore line and casting the length of the shore as there was no hills or bushes there...LOL
Got the caddis out about 30' from shore and watched a nice Cutt swim over to it and open it's mouth. Made the trip complete.
