I'm sure there are a few in the river, however the RR hatchery only shows 17 fish through the 29th. Water levels look real nice...

Yep...

For what its worth (which in my opinion is not worth a rotten skein of eggs), IDFG "harvest report" shows 8 fish being kept last week.

Last year I had a knock-down-drag-out with F&G because of their harvest report for the week of June 20th. We were in Riggins and the little river was booming at 3,300-4,950, and the main Salmon was in the 70K range, and both were dark chocolate milk. F&G's harvest report for that week (released on the 28th), stated 6 hours per fish, with 440 being landed on the Little Salmon...what an absolute crock!! Even the Tribes were laying in camp drunk...oh wait, thats normal.

Don't go by F&G's harvest reports...!!! My Dad taught me to "make your own report"...

i hear ya on the fish and game report. i question it all the time. i fished the little salmon in june also the water was raging and pretty colored up. there was hardly any one else fishing. i did find a few fish however sucked in to the bank on the opposite side of the river. it was pretty nutty ripping those fish across that main current from the other side. i had one almost spool me out about 75 yards down stream. i had to do something or just count my loss. i pumped and reeled that fish all the way back to me and landed it. that was crazy.

+1 D-Hunt!!!! I would eat 15 of your rotten egg skeins before I would think about swallowing one of those F&G Harvest reports. They are just a bunch of their ever-increasing overblown propaganda.

For the comparatively small role they play, IDFG does a heck of a job with what they have to work with, and I commend them for that, but the way they market it is the absolute pits to say the least. They treat it like they are selling a piece of meat. It makes used car salesmen look like the model of integrity and genuine-ness.

If the Marketing team here at Juniper Systems could take a 6 month training course from IDFG on how to effectively and succesfully market a product (including one that hasn't even been produced yet), we would make Fortune's 500 list every year for the rest of eternity.

I am going to buy an out of state season fishing license, steelhead tag, and salmon tag every single year. And as soon as you can catch fish, I am going to be making the 7 hour drive to Riggins every weekend until its over. But I can make that decision for myself. Don't make up a bunch of bologna about how this is going to the 1st 2nd or 3rd best year on record and announce it every year in January when no one really has a clue how many are coming. And don't go posting up a bunch of make-believe numbers of dead fish when anybody with half a brain knows it wasn't anywhere near that good.

In case you are still not sure, this is not an ethnically sensitive comment. That's the issue at hand.

And now you're coming across as a Tongue-in-cheek douchebag because obviously Indians are the only ones who fish with gaffs instead of "rod n reel."

Sage, once again I apologize for ruffling your fly.

Riggins report for what its worth.

My buddy from McCall has fished the main river and LS 4x this past week. Hes hooked 2 and landed 1. He fished the confluence last night and caught a squawfish and saw no salmon landed. He said the indians were not getting many on the Rapid either.

Im heading over in about 2 hours for 4 days hoping the slug of fish that came over granit 2 weeks ago hits. Looking at the catch rates for the lower salmon Im thinking I may be early. Gotta go cant take it anymore.

Hey Sagebrush...might you be a "left leaning liberal" educator? I'm darn glad my kids don't have a teacher as such.

BTW,...67 lb King (300+ 25-60 lb Kings), 16 lb rainbow, 19 lb Steelhead, and a 5.5 lb grayling…all on fly. Does that make me more special than some other angler ripping lips, “all on NOT a fly”…? DB

Sorry, but I'm far from liberal or left leaning. That's an ignorant stereotype based on my profession.

Congratulations on your angling accomplishments. BTW, I don't care if someone catches fish on a fly, lure, or bait. It's just fishing - no style is more special than the other.

Is there any particular reason that you're shifting from apologizing to this? Would it make you feel better if I apologized to you for saying you come across as a DB?

Just for the record, I'm one of those left-leaning educators. Didn't used to be, until recent legislation and treatment of those who spoke against it sent me away from my old political stance.

But right now, I'm considerably more interested in whether to drive up to the Clearwater, or hang tight and hope for the rush of salmon at Riggins as forcast above. Was that Phutch that was headed up? If you find a WiFi hotspot, keep us updated, would you? -- I promise I won't talk anything remotely related to politics and most certainly won't mention or do anything educative in nature.

How long does it traditionally take for the Chinook to make it to the town of Salmon and upper reaches of the Salmon river once they start to show at Riggins.
Also, D. Huntsman, are you going to make it to Alaska this year? I donated plasma and got an early Christmas gift so i will be making the trip this year.
Did you catch your big King on the river we float or somewhere else?
