BFT assault on Oakley?
#1
We were talking about a BFT get together/ camp at Oakley this year. I am looking at when to do this. I know SFCR is best the later part of June. Is that a good time for Oakley? I am thinking about the weekend of June 30th. Any ideas? I am flexible so I am up for suggestions. Ron

Ron you know how it goes trying to get everyone to agree on a date [:/] I'd just pick one and whoever can make it will. The others will just be missing out. I know June is going to be busy for me. Salmon, Pike and a trip to Henrys all this month but maybe could make the 30th - depending on the Salmon [Wink]

Ya I know but I had to ask. If Kurt can go on that weekend I am going to call it a go and see what happens. Heck it is a long way away and I am only hoping to go now.
It would be great to meet you Rod. Ron

I like the idea of a get together.....Tehe better half is into half marathons, trail running and getting into ultra runs....which are runs longer than marathons. ( 50K-31 miles, she has done afew of these...and some of her froneds do 50 milers, or 100K's ( 62miles ) and I am not a runner ) I had both knees replaced at age 44 due to many sports related/hunting issues and power lifting from the past) so I do find myself with weekends where she is off running with her friends ( good thing )
and I find myself fishing in the boat ( older ranger 330v ) by myself, or in the float tube or pontoon boat....
So i am open for just about anything as long as the horrible 4-letter word thing does not get in the way (work....I am on call 24/7-365) but I have an excellent work partner who covers for me if I am fishing or scubadiving. So count me in on group items...if the wife is not running, she would also love to go since she loves to fish. We have met so many nice folks here on this forum ( personal messaged, or phone conversation...never met in person )
Thanks for your time....Chuck

I'm pretty universal as long as i have a few days notice. I know my neighbor fishes up there a lot for walleye and hes said he doesn't get serious until end of June or July. Are we still thinking about an overnight trip ? would be nice to get everyone there and put faces to names. [cool]

I am thinking over night. The walleye should be biting that last weekend of June, if the weather is working for us. Ron

I would love to go and meet some more BFT'ers but the 30th we will be in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

I could use the schooling on how to catch Walleye. The only one I've ever caught was at SFCR and it was a skinny 10"er during a bass tourney.

I'd be game as long as there isnt much gravel to tow the boat down...

works for me [Smile] I'm thinking there is about 4 miles of gravel. Its a little washboard But if a guy takes it slow its not too bad, they take large 5th wheels and motor homes in there all the time.

About 25 miles south Burley.

The little town of Oakley is about 20 miles south of Burley. The reservoir is another 5 miles past it. Some maps show it as Lower Goose Cr Reservoir. It is long and narrow.

Sorry to miss this, everyone. I won't be able to go at the end of June or first part of July. Most of my summer this year is booked up.

I think any date chosen is going to miss some of us, so just pick a date and go with it. Who ever can make it will. Two or three get togethers might hit more people. Either way it would be nice to see more of these.

Would be fun, but camping over here on the lakes is really a challenge to find a place. Even Twin Lake's expensive sites get full fast.

I maybe interested on a road trip, just depends on what day. I'll give it my best shot if I'm off.

There are some pretty good camp spots starting a mile up stream from the reservoir. Not much shade tho

Hey I think this would be great, I think Pierce has the right idea on doing a couple of these a year though. One in the spring/early summer and another late summer/fall get together would be fun.

Is there anywhere where you can camp and plug the boat in? Gotta keep the trolling motor batteries fresh.
