Thinking about heading up to northern Idaho and spending some time. Ideally would want to camp somewhere or stay at a place right on the lake. It wouldn't have to be on Lake Coeur d Alene, it could be on one of the smaller lakes in the area. Hoping to catch pike and/or tiger muskie. Does anyone have any input on some good campgrounds or resorts (more fishing type resorts) that may fit the bill. Any input would be appreciated. We have never been up in the area.

From time to time Kodiak1 has posted some reports from the Coeur d Alene paper. You might look for his past posts and get the link or PM him.

Thanks for the replies. I will check all of these out. The camping and maybe any "inside" info is more what I hope to hear about. Thanks, I have seen the posts from the paper up that way and have been going through the paper. They run great reports on the fishing activity for sure.
Please let us/me know about your trip Avery.

+1,000 on the Heyburn State Park plug- All the sister lakes/chain lakes off the main lake have great pike fishing.
Heyburn is on Chatcolet Lake- right between Hidden, Round, and Benewah Lakes.
We've always had success for pike in the Round Lake area. As you head north from Chatcolet- it gets pretty commercial/residential- but you'll be able to find quite a few fish still.
Disclaimer: I haven't fished there in about 5 years, but it's always fished real well. If you can find a weedline, you'll find a pike up there. Beware of the recreation boaters and the jetskis, but there's also a decent sheriff presence on the lake too.

Bummer for the weather on your trip but thanks for the update, and the suggestion. I have been looking into that area and am definately hoping to get away and up that way this summer. That will be our destination if we can make it happen.
