Firehole question and Henry's Lake
#1
We visited Henry's Lake this morning and fished it from the shore. It was significantly slower today than it has been the past couple of weeks. We only caught two between the three of us whereas in weeks past we've caught our limit in several hours. The biggest of the day was an 8 pound hybrid, though!

After fishing the lake, we headed for a brief drive through Yellowstone. While driving alongside the Firehole River, I noticed DOZENS of guys out fly fishing. What is the appeal about the Firehole? Any thoughts? Is it just that it's one of the few fishable rivers in the Park at this time? Or are the fish pretty large?

Congrats on the large hybrid! Did you get any pictures?

On the Firehole, I don't really know, but I am guessing that any of the waters that are visible from the road are going to be crowded, even if they don't have fish!

The Firehole is sure a beautiful river. I know we fished it about 20 years ago [shocked] and had fun.

The early season on the firehole is good because of the warm water mixing with the cold. It brings on a variety of good hatches earlier than other rivers in the area.

In a couple weeks the water will become too warm and the majority of the fish will move to cooler water tributaries etc...

Sorry it took me a while to reply. Here's one of the pictures we took. Thanks for the info on Firehole (and windriver). I wonder if there is anything in there of considerable size.

Those are some fat, heavy, bruiser fish! Thanks for posting the picture.
