Bank Yanking at Cascade.
#1
Short version: Fish early before the sun hits the water, go play, then fish late after the shadows are on the water again.

Long version:
We pulled in by the lake (I'm not going to say where, but those of you who know me could probably guess) around 11PM. I threw the tent-cot on the bank, prepared bed, and casted a rod out with a worm and corkie. I put a bell on the rod so I could tend it in the night if necessary. I didn't expect much, but I thought I might get a bullhead or something.

3:30 PM. The bell started ring, so I jumped out of the tent and reeled in a nice 17-18 inch NPM. That's alright with me cause it will make good Lake Trout bait come winter time. Casted the rod back out and went to bed.

Around 4:30 the bell started ringing again. This time it was a nice fat 12-13 inch perch. Casted back out and almost made it back into bed before the bell started ringing again. Well, I never did make it back. I casted out a 2nd rod and it was fast and furious perch action until the sun hit the water. Then perching died.

I tried all kinds of stuff during the day with little success.

Late in the afternoon, we resigned to more bank yanking and after about 1.5 hours without so much as a nibble, we decided to watch a movie and leave the rods out. About the time the water was shaded, all heck broke loose. The bite was fast and furious again until the fireworks. After the fireworks, we put the rods away and went to bed.

The next morning, same story. Awesome perch fishing, until we left. We got up, through out a couple lines, and started packing up. We caught 3 more keepers and several smaller ones in the 30 or so minutes it took to break camp and we headed home.

If you want more details, PM me.
