Labman, Riverpark, Smallmouth and mixed, 07/15/5012, Solo, adding couple earlier trip pics
#1
Did my early Sunday morning visit to Riverpark. Hit the water about 6:30 and already 10 trailers in the lot. My usual river rat partner (Nauticman) is out of action with a bad back so went solo this morning. Caught some nice Threadfin at the dam and was set to do some freeline drifting for bass. Had pretty fair luck, with 2 good LM and 4 SM. The largest SM of the day hit hard and when it felt the hook, got airborne. Must have jumped at least 4' out of the water. Gotta love those Brownfish.

The skippies were killing bait so I had to catch a few on flutter spoons and poppers. Also tons of White bass below the RR Bridge and up in the edge of the current at the dam. think I caught about 10 whites and maybe 6 skippies.

Got a surprise visit from a small rockfish and of course a "DRUM" in the 20# range that got me all excited with a couple strong runs. I just knew it was another late rockfish...NOT.

Then the cats moved in and had 2 nice channels in the 4# range and couple of blues around 6-7# So I kept pretty busy and ran out of bait about 11. Didn't feel like trying for more bait so headed for home . Ran into another school of white bass on the way downstream and caught another 4. All whites were on a small rapala white jerk bait and white tailspinner and popping cork with flutter spoon.
Lots of fun, but most just average with a couple good ones.

Had a fun morning, overcast most of the time so not too hot.

I haven't been posting reports much lately, but I do post pictures to my library even if I don't do a report.

Regards, Labman
