Went down from Tilden today for a couple hours. We caught a few trout and lost a few more but the catch of the day was a 35 inch carp that I'm guessing weighed around 25 pounds. Not exactly what I was there for but it sure was a fun first fish on my new st. Croix spinning rod. I will try to post pics later. When I'm around a computer.

Sounds like a fun day for you. That is a HUGE carp. Were you in a boat on on the bank?

I was in a boat. I went down again this morning only landed 2 trout and 6 suckers. The trout were 18 and 21 inches.

Way to go on the trout. Those are nice fish anywhere.
I was wondering about accesses below Tilden. Do you have to float all the way down to Mctucker area or are you getting out somewhere in between? Or do you have a jet boat and are motoring back up to Tilden? Thanks.

The large majority of guys that fish that section are running down in jet boats and fishing the "spots" and then they run back to where they put in. As far as bank angling goes its pretty tough because of the reservation covering one bank and the majority of the other being private ground.

I have a little jet boat so i run down and back to the ramp. It's not much of a boat but brownieguy is right. There isn't Really anywhere to go that isn't private. You can float to mctucker but I'm not sure how long it would take or which channel the mctucker boat ramp is on. I am going to go down again tonight and maybe later this week as it will be the last chance I have for a month or so due to surgery but I will report when I get back.

I went out again below tlden last night for a hour or so. Only caught 2 trout one was about 20 in the other 16 in. The trout are jumping like crazy about a hour before dark. Any ideas what kind of flies work on this part of the river?
