Wed night EHC hatch!
#1
Anyone else catch the elk hair caddis hatch on the middle last night!? The first 30 minutes or so was pure torture because the fish were going nuts for everything but our flys... At about 8:30 it finally turned on and what a ride it was. Fished it for about an hour or so and had some good fish! Anyone know how long this will last? Would love to catch it again!

on saturday night my precious EHC hatch was big. I used one EHC fishes about 1 hr caught 14 tigers. Fun stuff it was. I say that was the best EHC hatch this year that I experienced so far.

Ya it was so much fun! I got back to the car and they were everywhere. This was the section right below the dam where some still water is before "rapids" what a good time... Hoppers during the day and caddis at night. Doesn't get much better than that!

Is the Elk Hair Caddis hatch anything like the parachute adams hatch or maybe the griffith's gnat hatch? Sounds awesome!

I hear ya. My question is, how close is it to a wooly bugger hatch. Logic says it shouldn't be, but you never can tell. Could be the post nymphal stage come to think of it.

Nah, we can take it just fine! Just an observation from what I have seen... Let's not waste our time here and bicker like little old ladies. I hear there is another elk hair caddis hatch and I would hate to miss it!

Bickering? I missed that. Just a WHOOPS to me.
When you first posted, I wondered why just Elk Hair and not Goddard. Do you fish Goddard Caddis? They are fantastic hatch matches and float like corks.

Missed a nice HATCH on Strawberry this morning. What a BLAST!

Ya I guess I'm used to stupid Facebook arguments... My apologies. I have a few Goddards that I just bought but am yet to try them out. I suppose that would have been the perfect time!

Facebook is suppose to be friendly.....[cool]
I was in Idaho fishing the Snake and the sky literally turned red. I looked up and Caddis everywhere. From a #18 to a #10. I thought this was going to be great, but with thousands on the water, Mine was like a needle in a haystack. I threw on a small CBS and caught a bunch of bottom eaters. When all else fails give them something different.

Ha ya thats the idea but people love to fight online! I absolutely love the snake river... Spent alot of time on it in the Idaho falls area. That's where my ashes will be spread! I will need to remember that fly for nights like that. Im thinking i will head up tuesday night and see if i can catch it again... Thanks!

Ya Just a misunderstanding... it's all good! We were there around 7:30 but they didn't start hitting our flys until about 8:30. It was
Pretty dark So if you saw a splash just set the hook!
