Hahahaha! Chris was a cocky [#0000FF]deleted [/#0000FF]that deserved way worse punishment than $1,014 fine and 10 years of hunting/fishing priveleges lost.
A year in jail would have been about right.
Knowing him, I doubt he'll stop fishing even after this conviction.

I remember seeing his posts about the fish in the picture. He should have received a harsher penalty being a repeat offender.

My question on these poaching cases are:

Why the long ban? These people "poach". Do we really think a ban will matter?
How about a stiff fine? Lets say 10k to start.
Time in jail?
This kind of sentencing might deter poachers in the future, not the "you can't buy a license from us for 10 years" sentence.

10 years in 37 different states! That's pretty stiff. But, I agree -- it won't stop someone like Chris. But the positive side is that we all know he can't keep his mouth shut -- so he'll get caught again.

The problem with the fine comes down to values set aside by legislation. Obviously, Utah doesn't place a high enough value on our fish:

I just read this on their Facebook page... I agree we definatly need stronger punishments. Guys like that will just keep doing it. I hate people like this that think they are the exception to the rule and they don't have to follow the guidelines. Loser

I laugh at his losses, and agree with others 10k one year in jail. He should be 'volunteered' to help the commercial carp fishers on ut lake, gratis of course.

What an idiot. The article even references his use of online forums to brag about the illegal crap he was doing. Nothing like incriminating yourself

You know what's Sad is the number of people on those forums (BFT included) that tried to defend this creep.
