Wader Reviews
#1
Soo... After wearing about a quarter size hole in BOTH stocking boots in the heel, DOH! I'm in the market for something better then the Riverwalks from Sportsmans Warehouse. They only lasted around.... 8 months! Kind of disappointing! Let me know ya you like and where you can get them for a good price.

the William Joseph Outlet in SLC has closeout waders. I have a back up set of willy J's, been used 3 times in 2 years. We also have a set of the Cabelas Guide SBT (or is it STB, whatever) chest waders. The wife rocks a set of Reddingtons, and will soon be rocking Orvis Sonic's. I roll Simms G3 pants and chest waders. for the money you can not beat the durability of Simms, or reddington, we have found. check out Anglers Den in riverdale, they sell Orvis and Reddington (orvis not so much i think they quit carrying them) and Simms as well. you will likely be plesently suprised at the Reddingtons, and dont forget the bargin bin at Cabelas.

I like it, thanks. Another question for you, seeing you've actually tested all the brandsmlooking at. Which one of those, has a stronger stocking foot!? I honestly have no idea how I wore a hole in the heels of mine, maybe the boots I'm using? Either way, I'm kind of expecting the same results with any other pair unless there's reinforcement or something on the bottoms of the feet. Or like I said, maybe the boots I'm using need some different soles or an insert.

I've got a pair of Hodgman and a pair of Reddington. I haven't had any problems with either or them wearing out although I did rip a small hole in my Hodgmans. The Hodgmans are about 4 years old. The Reddingtons about 1 yr.

Look at Dan bailey waders. I used my pair for 10 years like work paints. Guided in them,Duck hunted through brush in and out of them several times a week. I retired them this year for a pair of Orvis I had from the store already. They were also a favorite of the guides I knew. Redingtons and hodgeman didn't last me a year,Bare lasted 4 years. So far I am liking my Orvis.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! My boot foot hippers from Orvis since 2003 finally kissed it (seams) so I bought a pair of inexpensive rubber soled CADDIS boots and ordered the Dan Bailey Breathable Hippers. OMG. The material is off the charts, Nice neo bootie and with a 36" inseam, these things go all the way up even in a squat. All I wear now. I rarely go waist high so all is good (and these hippers let me know when I do...LOL)
Thumbs up quality James. And when my Rivendale go, Dans will be my choice seriously.

Zak, you really need to spend more time in your homestate. WJ moved out to the south end of the valley a couple years ago. Since then, no annual closeout sales.
And the Willy J waders kick arse. Don't forget Patagonia either. Don't want ou looking like an Orvis Dork![cool]

Ahh, that was going to be my next question! Where is the WJ outlet Store. Doesn't list one on the website. Sooo..... I honestly don't know if I want to spent the $450 for G3's. Cabelas has the SBT's which have welded seams, 5 layer as well for half the price. SBT are always similar to the Dan Baileys which are $400.... I'm kinda diggin the WJ's hypalon feet material. Seeing thats where the problem was with my last pair. All the others are still using just a high density neoprene. Won't like the WST's though with the floatation device. Just something to go wrong and get in the way. So I'm kind of digging the drynamic's! With a price tag of $270ish. Anyone tried out a pair of these? Other then that, all the others are specing up to be around the same... Just a huge price difference.

I know that Simms are expensive but after having multiple pairs of waters over the past 25 years I have learned that it is worth paying extra for better quality equipment. I have had my Simms G3's for over 5 years and they still perform like they just came out of the box. They have been so great, my dad switched from Orvis and bought a pair a couple of years ago and is pleased with his decision. If you can pony up the extra dough I highly recommend Simms. Just my two cents.

Its been a while since ive been out there but The outlet store use to be here

William Joseph
8100 South 1300 West Suite D
West Jordan, UT 84088

So some food for thought Simms G3 retail for 449.00

You literally could buy 3 pairs of Cabelas Dry Plus waders.149.99. Im a fan of Cabelas waders mainly cause there price vs replacement is right on point. Im averaging 3 to 4 years per pair. Now if you think about it I could get 9 to 12 years of worth of use for the cost 1 pair of Simms G3's. I've never heard anyone who fishes 100 or more days a year get 9 to 12 years out of any Simms waders.

Any how just my opinion

So... I decided to bite the bullet and go for the SIMMS. After looking FOREVER for some deals, Anglers Workshop in WA is having a closeout sale right now some G4's and Headwaters. I bought some G4's for $415 shipped! Here's the link if anyone else out there is interested!
