campfire around shore at the berry?
#1
is it ok to have fires around shore at the berry? in my younger years I did it but I'm a little more cautious these days. I always enjoyed having a fire while shore fishing this time of year up at the berry. Not sure if I was doing it legally but it was fun and helps when ya take some newbies up there when its cold like I plan on doing.

Good question I'm not sure of the answer but last time I was there some shore tanglers had one going the whole time I was on the water and I didn't see any issues.

I'm not sure either, but earlier this spring a couple of different groups at Chicken creek had lil fires going. Didn't see or hear any issues then....so, I'm not much help!

I'll bet that there are no open fires up there. I don't know of anywhere in the state that allows an open fire for the past few years due to fire danger !!! Call the Ranger in Heber to confirm !!

I'm not too concerened about a fire safety thing. But more concerned of getting a citation for having it outside of a pit or near an area somewhat close to parking. I could see a CO drivin by and seeing a fire going and writing a ticket.

I had to bring this post up one more time after today.
I understand wanting to keep warm while fishing and we use to have our camp fire right by the lake at Flaming Gorge, Starvation, even Grantsville.
But, I have to ask, does this look right to you?

The people that built the fire left over one hour and the fire was a still going.

This keeps up and I will say those fires will be a thing of the past. Amazing that some people cannot pick up after themselves and 10 feet from water and cannot put out a fire. These are the people that are killing it for others.

My girls and I made a quick trip to Bryant's Fork today and there were two different fires going on the main peninsula.

We didn't catch jack squat. I saw one person (of the 15 or so that I could see on the bank -- holy crap, doesn't anyone go to church anymore?) catch a fish, and he hollered that he caught it on a "bubble n' p'wer bait!". /sigh

Dude, they don't plant Jack Squat till spring time![laugh]
The fire in the picture was unattended. No one remotely close to it. One good wind!!!! Like I said, the lake was maybe 10 feet away, and I am sure they had a drink can.
Still holding on to a mess of Indy's for you.
