GID experience
#1
If you thought I was asking about Gender Identity Disorder you can quite reading now.
But does anyone have experience with using glow in the dark flies particularly in freshwater but also salt. I'm just wondering if you find them useful and if so what conditions ie low light on stillwater or salt. With the shorter days I was thinking of trying a few out in Utah and possible South Florida this winter.

Those DOA glow shrimp work wonders at night in the Keys/Glades, so if you could tie a glow shrimp fly, I would think it would be the ticket. Is there glow stuff, like fuzzy dubbing, to tie shrimp patterns with? I always just used "tan" materials, which worked good both day and night.

Doug Swisher has some GID flies as well as tying materials; http://www.dougswisher.com/fly_tying_materials.htm
I'm lazy and was just thinking of buying a handful of salt and fresh water flies each to try out unless people think it's more hype than anything else.
So are you back off to the Yucatán this winter to fish for baby tarpon?
I'm meeting my brother-in-law the day after Christmas and we'll have 5 teenage boys with us for kayak camping and fishing in 10,000 Islands. Most of the boys are pretty good fishermen so not as bad as it sounds.

Yep, I'll be heading back down there after the new year a couple times, at least. You should join me!

The trips sound like a blast and I would love to go. Unfortunately until my kid gets out of high school I can't see it working out for me except if you every go over the Christmas school break.
