If you haven't tried a Mr. Jigger yet they are fun and are very sensitive, but for me they are too low so I came up with my own tip-down jigger.

It's made from 1/2" pvc, 3 T's, and 2 elbows and I use old welding rod for the rod holder.

You can make them a comfortable hiegth for your own needs. I amde mine so when I break them down the will fit in a bucket.
They move in the wind are very sensitive and so far I have never had one tip over. The best part is they are inexspensive.[fishin]

Idahopanfish - what is the extra PVC pipe for at the base point away from hole, counterweight?

Can be a counterweight but I had put it there to hold a rod for bank fishing or if there was a regular rod brought by a guest.

Thanks for the reply. I like the dual purpose. I plan to build a few of these. Costs are much less than Mr. Jigger or similar ones plus a chance to get a little creative.

Glad you like them and you will find it to be very sensitive.

Looks like a nice design. Some of my rods are tuff to counterbalance, having more clearance would help that. Plus - my crickety back doesn't love all the bending over.
Want to get my camera and finder up off the ground too. Hmmm - to the PVC store!
How tall did you end up making 'em?
I was thinking maybe a pinwheel could be hooked to the rod, make it jig in the wind even more...

yes you can add things to let the wind do the jigging for you but I have found that they move without anything even with a breeze.
I determined the hiegth to make them by how they would pack up in my buckets. So I could make them taller by making the upright lets 2 pieces, ie the exsample in the garage.
