I'm headed out to Chesterfield this afternoon and evening with my family - if you see 2 parents chasing a 2 & 3 year old around all afternoon you'll know it's us! Come say hi! I've got a decent idea of what jigs to use, but I'm really hoping to get my 3 year old into a couple fish, so any inside info would be great! PM if you feel like sharing! I'll post a report plus underwater GoPro footage when I get back!

I fished chesterfield on new years day. near the dam. ice jigs tipped with meal worms. dead sticks only landed 4,
jigging with newly purchased hummingbird flasher worked best. tricked fish with chronomid, white wooly bugger, swedish pimple. first time using a flasher, made time fly and much better then using my regular fish finder.
match.
no fish over 14, all catchables averaging 10"
we fished 14' and 24' depths.
Match

Fished chesterfield today from 8 to 4. Fished about 300 yards down past the boat ramp. Caught a hand full of planters no big ones today. Fished in about 15 feet of water.

my dad fished chesterfield yesterday. They had three five pounders. He said that the only way to keep the little ones off is to put large bait on. He starts with stringing a marshmellow up his line, then a whole crawler, finally a rainbow power nugget. He says that the little ones can just nibble at it and only the bigger stuff can swallow it. Even at that he said he still threw back ten of those little guys. They put that group of loopers in the lake in october so they will be a pain all winter. They started planting those last year, I'm curious to see how big they get in a couple of years with the awesome food source that's in that lake!

I took the family out on the ice about 50 yards north of the creek inlet on the West Bank. Had a great evening! We passed some fishermen that had literally JUST abandoned their ice holes (they weren't even slushed up yet) who said they fished there all day and only caught 3 fish amongst 4 fishermen. I saw they had been fishing with nightcrawlers and primarily pink baits, so I went to their spot and threw on green and white with great success! We landed 10 fish in 2 hours - unfortunately they were all planters, but still a great time! On a positive note also my 2 year old daughter landed her first fish! We didn't get loaded up and off the lake until 30 min after dark, the thermometer read -12! My kids never would've known, they were laughing at the "dancing fish" on the ice the whole evening!

Not saying you broke any laws. But just putting this up fir every one too see as a reminder. Trout limit is 2 on chesterfield, per licensed persons. Sounds like you had a great day on the ice.. Maybe next time you will find the big one.

also on page 64. it says resident children under 14 need not be accompanied by the holder of a ballot fishing license and they may have their own separate limit hope this helps

It only says he "landed" ten, not kept ten. This discussion is apparently for edification and entertainment.
Thank you GrovB, for sharing your information and trip with us.

I apologize if I came accros as trying to.give any one a hard time, that was not my intentions. I didnt mean to make it look like I was pointing fingers and accusing any one of anything, just wanted to put it out there as a refresher, I know sometimes people forget or are unaware of the rules on said reservoir. Once again sorry if I came accros the wrong way.

On looking back at your first post, I see now that you weren't meaning GB and his family.
Always good to have some reminders.
