[#004080]Yep! I saw it and now i'm even more excited! It looks awesome! I feel like a teenager again! I've got the LOTR itch again! [laugh][/#004080]

[#004080]I've read all 4 books and know how it ends, I even have a trilogy from 1962 and the one released last year that's still sealed but, I can't wait! I'm hooked on more than just fishing. [Wink][/#004080]

[#004080]Some buttheads broke into our house when we were fishing & camping in Montana and took our Fellowship DVD that we'll have to get again. [mad][/#004080]

[#004080]I guess they didn't see my books (thankfully) that were worth a lot more than the DVD but, they got about 50 DVD's altogether.. Some people suXor [mad][/#004080]

[#0000ff]Sorry to here that. it was probably kids that have too much time on their hands and don't respect other people's property. He father-in-law had some kids walk right into their house and start picking up stuff until he showed his face. Boy they got out of there in a hurry! Now he keeps the door locked even when he's at home![/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Now as far as the Trilogy, ah there is a subject close to my heart. I probably read the the series (4 books) a dozen times, and have waited for over 20 years from the first time I heard they were planning a movie about it to finally see it happen, They've done a really good job keeping very close to the story line lets just hope they don't try to cover too much material in too short a time for the final chapter. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]When its all done they need to go back and make the prequel "The Hobbit" and the story will be complete.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You know there are several follow up books but they aren't very good, one is "The Simirilian" er something like that, then a few other knock off's by different authors who tried to follow up JRR Tolkin after his death but couldn't maintain the story line, I tried to read them but lost interest very fast.[/#0000ff]

I am totally pumped...in fact, I am hitting the trilogy marathon and will get to see both extended versions (LOTR and TTT) back to back followed by ROTK!

I'm also very excited to see it. My wife is planning on taking the day off of work to see it on opening day. She is a huge fan of both the books and the movie.

[#004080]I hear ya FFM [Wink] I haven't read them quite that many times but, I remember being a little girl, sitting in our 'food storage room' where my mom kept that trilogy and just staring at the covers and studying them over and over (they had the map of Middle Earth on the hardback covers & on the box they go in) [/#004080][#004080]I couldn't even read them yet but I was hooked [Wink] [/#004080]

[#004080]I've heard that Peter Jackson is going to be making the Hobbit but, I think he introduces it subtly several times in the movies (especially FOTR) where Gandalf is telling Frodo that he was 'barely involved' in the dragon adventure etc. [/#004080]

[#004080]What magnificent literature though! Tolkien was truly in a class all his own! He created a whole new world for all of us to enjoy for many years to come. [Smile][/#004080]

[#004080]I haven't read the Simirilian but had wondered about it. I know that he had other books he'd published but, after LOTR, it's hard to compare even his own work. [Wink][/#004080]

jbhp:

Is there a timeframe for making the Hobbit? I see his reasoning for making it last. He gets us hooked then makes the prequel, see there is money in his maddness, er a method to his maddness. Got us Hook, Line & LOTR (Sinker)
