yuba ice conditions?
#1
Thinking this may be a good year to make my first trip to yuba on the hard deck. Has anyone been down there yet?

I haven't been down there yet, but the state parks website was updated today for Yuba and it says the lake is completely capped with 6" to 12" of ice.

not sure why you would think this year would be a good year to ice fish yuba? but the the perch in yuba have all gone the way of the doo. doo this year. in the 4 trips i made there this year not 1 perch was caught.. we did catch 4 walleye, and a bunch of pike.. you'll find the pike fishing on the ice hard if ya can't find the perch.. but good luck to ya hope ya find something other then carp there..

Thanks for the report anyways. Was unaware of such conditions down that way. Although catching a nice pike thru the ice would be fun.

Ron,
does Redmond freeze during these periods of bitter cold? I've seen ice in the bays but wondering about the main lake. Thanks

I ice fished it years ago when I lived in Richfield. You gotta stay clear over on the east side to find any safe ice and still ya gotta be CAREFUL.
