WTF is going on in the world of hunting?
#1
After reading thru some of the posts on here I am really starting to realize that people are lazy and the internet has ruined hunting all together. I am going to refrain from mentioning any posts in particular but I find it completely ridiculous that somebody would ask where to find game animals in an particular area months before the hunt is acutally going to happen. Here is a novel idea for you.......GET OFF YOUR @$$ AND DO SOME SCOUTING!!!!!!!!!!! You cannot do any real scouting on a forum board. I bet a good amount of folks that internet scout are the same ones I see idling up and down roads staring out the window in hopes of seeing a deer or elk every year. Do the real hunters a favor and just stop buying a license.

Couldn't help it. This just really grinds my gears. I lived here in SW Idaho from 02-09 and just moved back in mid October but I didnt go asking people to show me where to find stuff. I just sucked it up and put some miles on my boots. I didnt shoot anything but thats not what hunting is about anyways.

you ever consider that the people asking for help on here do that to supplement their scouting and not to replace it? I ask my buddies all the time how they did and tell them how I did when waterfowling, that's what friends do!

Believe it or not, I also have friends on this forum that I ask for information from time to time. I see what you're saying, it is ridiculous if you replace real world scouting with internet scouting but you don't know that that is what they're doing!

In any community, even an internet community, we should all be give the benefit of the doubt, don't you think? What grids my gears is when people insist on imposing their views of what is "correct" without allowing that there's another side to the argument.

Ruined hunting all together? Really? I had the best season of my life this year and people on this forum helped me get there....

I may have been a little harsh. I also share hunting advice and whatnot with friends but that is a little differant than asking some of the questions I have seen in recent years on forums like this. I was actually refering to a few specific posts but didn't want to attack anybody in particular. There was one for instance that was asking where to find deer in an area that is within an hour of where the individual said he lived yet he was still asking the question 6 months before the season even started. Sharing small pointers is one thing but flat out asking exactly where to find deer is differant. What makes it worse is some folks will just go ahead and post it instead of sending a PM so the entire world sees it and that just makes it crappy for everybody when there is a caravan of people out hunting areas that dont usually get that amount of pressure. As much as I love the amount of public access in this state I cant wait to move back to the midwest where I dont have to worry about somebody riding thru the area I am hunting on a quad or bike ruining my hunt.

Dude, wow. You wanna know my favorite type of hunters? The guys that drive around all day and stay the hell OFF the mountain. 4 wheelers are the best thing that ever happened, keep the dang road hunters ON THE ROAD! I would like to think if you're a dedicated hunter that hikes hard and spends countless hours scouting and backpacking for days like me you would appreciate all the road warriors too. And that last line is the WORST. Why on earth would any hardcore hunter want these guys to stop buying licenses?!?! The fewer licenses sold the higher our prices would go up and the less money there would be for the dwr to manage our resources, they are already doing a bad enough job on the piss poor funding they've got. Let the lazy guys buy licenses and fund our dwr, and then they don't take an animal which is even better. I love the fact that thousands of hunters buy a license and never even make it out into the field. If a guy has a good time hunting the roads and being lazy, let him have at it, its only making mine and your hunting opportunities better. Relax and go hiking.
