First off I want to send a big shout out of thanks to the Ice fisherman that drilled holes for me and didn't accept payment for doing so. (found out my blades were dull when I tried my first hole) THANK YOU! friday evening in front of lodge.
My wife proceeded to teach me how to catch fish that night by catching 5 splake to my one on a chartruese whatta cricket,in 35' of water, a foot off the bottom.
Saturday we all caught rainbows that were hanging 15'-20' below the ice on paddle bugs and whatta crickets. Some how, when I picked up my Marcum to move to a new hole, wires touch and fryed all the wires in a plume of smoke,I thought it was going to blow up. Now fishing blind we went out deep to fish for Macs. A few quick bites but no hook ups sat. night.
Sunday, going for Lake Trout only in 80'to 100' of water, fishing the bottom with 3/4oz. jig heads tiped with perch meat and 5" tubes we caught 8, 7 were 18" to 21" pups and 1 that was 23"-24". We hooked several more and had long line releases.
