Strawberry event today. Thank you

Thank you to all of you that helped in any way at the Strawberry event today, especially those that helped with the kids. The fishing was slow, but the kids had a good time.

I'll post some pics soon.

The kids were late getting to Strawberry because of a big accident that they had to detour around.

There were a lot of people on the ice so by the time the kids got there, all the noise on the ice may have spooked the fish.
Not many Trout were caught but the kids had a great time and went home with some nice prizes.

I'm sure that many of them will be ice fishing again because of the efforts of the volunteers.

Good job to all that helped and donated.

That is what I thought, it is awesome to get the kids out there but the noise always scare the fish away. That is why the guys that got away from the crowds did better last year with their kids. I was listening to that outdoors radio show that KSL 1160 does on Sat morning and they were saying that the catching had been good up until this weekend. I guess there is nothing that can be done about big events like that, as far as giving the kids a better chance to catch fish, at least the kids get a chance to get out and experience what it is like to go ice fishing. I'm sure Adam and all those involved help make it a lot more enjoyable by doing the give aways and everything else that made the event a success.

Yes, DKS is right about the fishing. It was quite slow by the time the kids got there. Unfortunately, the accident cost the kids a couple of hours fishing time, and my rear fender Sad . We didn't have the time to take them far enough away from the crowds and into more fish. Once there, the kids had a great time. The girls that were with my daughter and I had fun but were more interested in going for rides in the jet sled and sledding down the hill, in between trips to the potty . They also got some new boots from the UWC, which they loved. All of the kids got a new fishing rod and reel for use in the summertime.

Again, thanks to all that helped us. It was great to have the UVU bassers there helping. Maybe we need to have the Boys and girls club do a bassin event.

Here are some pics I took of the event. The Smiles said it all. I'll spare you the accident pics.

I found a single kids Black snowmobile boot in the lower parking lot. It's a size 5 and looks expensive.
I left it at the Store in the Lodge.
I hope it makes it's way back to the owner.

We would love to have the boys and girls club do a bass event, we talked to our kids about what we do and they thought it was pretty cool.

I too would like to thank each and every one of you who had anything to do with making this event such a success. All of the kids seemed to have a blast. My two guys were very much interested in the fishing until the smell of burgers got the best of them and then it was hot chocolate and snacks that took over.
They had a great time!
Thanks again to all!

Thanks to all that stopped by the Maniac table. it was great fun rigging rods, giving out free lures and talking about fishing. We fished on Friday most of the day and had good success catching a mix of Rainbows and Cuts. several cuts were over the slot, with the biggest at 23". Best lures were 1-1/2", 2-1/2" Cut'r Bugs and gizzilla's in Crazy glow, Crazy glow orange and white with red flake. The biggest fish were caught on the 2-1/2" Cut'r Bug in orange glow. We ran two rods each, one lure near the bottom and the other at 10 ft under the ice. Most of the bows came from the 5-15 range. The bigger cut's from the bottom. We landed about sixty fish between the two of us. Not a super day, but not bad either! Scott was catching fish on Saturday as he was demonstrating techniques.
