Hey i was just wondering what general area folks are catching burbot at the gorge? Also we are thinking bout takin the kids up this coming weekend and were wondering where we could spend a couple nights that's close to the lake and budget friendly?? Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Bid Priceline for hotels in rocksprings or green river. That was the best option my wife and I found without going to a really sketchy place.

The burbs are everywhere. There are many posts on here talking of the general locations that you ought to check out.

I'll tell you what the lady in Green River Wildlife office told me. " the fish are in the water". They are literally everywhere in that lake. Buddy and I fished just out of buckboard Friday night. I think we were the only ones that stayed all night. Most everyone left around midnight. They knew something we didn't. The fishing pretty much died off around midnight.
All together my buddy and I iced 25 burbot and 2 lakers. Only 5 or so happened from midnight to 5 am. Picked up again a bit but I told mama we'd be home before noonish so we had to leave.

As for a place to stay, the marina had an RV park thing to stay in. Bring your trailer and have a blast.

Man that sounds like so much fun! We don't own an rv, sure wish we did. Sounds like we'd have some nice options. Would staying in vernal be an option or or is that to far?

Vernal would be a long drive, Manila or Green River would be closer and would likely be cheaper, considering how much gas you would spend driving to vernal.

Were taking the motorhome. You could rent one for a couple of nights, I'm not sure on the price but it is another option if you can't find a room.

We always stay in cabins. If you google cabins arround flaming gorge , there are some that are pretty resonable. There are also rooms at flaming gorge lodge in the motel there that run about the same as GR or rock springs when you factor in gas.
