Mantua Parking
#1
[#502800]Is it illegal to park on the right side of the South shore road at Mantua? ........ I saw an officer that looked like he was going to write up a bunch of tickets? Not sure?[/#502800]

That sounds like something Robocop would do. Got to get that revenue to pay his wages. But there may be a sign down towards the boat ramp that says no parking on that road.

Was it yesterday? I fished there yesterday from 9am to 3pm, and was parked [#502800]on the South shore road at Mantua[/#502800], i did not get a ticket. We have always parked there during the ice fishing season with no problems.

There is a sign near the boat ramp, but to me it seems a little unclear regarding parking further down the road (mentions something about not parking on the dam berm or dike - hard to say where that dike ends). I've always just parked near the restrooms at the end of the road and walked the 200 yards back to where I can get on the ice.

Hey - Barney runs that town, makes up the rules, and enforces them any way he likes to. Gotta fund that policeman's ball.

I think during summer months - they do not permit parking anywhere along that road, but during ice season - they permit folks to park along the south to get on the ice.

Though parking on the "right side" - depends on which direction . . . the standard is to park on the north side (lake side).

You could try asking him if you'd seen him out there, but be careful - he might give you a ticket for obstruction of injustice!

I park on the "lake side" of the South road and have never gotten a ticket. Take care to park as close to the edge as you can safley and you shouldnt get a ticket either. If it was illegal to park there it would be marked.
He should ticket the guy who seems to alway park infront of the area we all use as a entry point on the south road of the lake. Makes me mad!!![mad]Felt like pushing his truck into the lake....[:p]Kidding

[#502800]Yes, You had to have a skinny sled to get in between the cars to get to the path.[/#502800]
[#502800]It is confusing as I believe the sign by the dock said no parking on the dike ....... Oh well, as long as they are not giving tickets?[/#502800]

The sign isn't clear but I am thinking it is referring to the dike by be "beach" area. A no parking sign is only good for so many feet from the sign.
Never seen nor heard of someone getting a ticket there. Would like to know if that has changed.
I am just glad the lake is for the most part still free unless launching a boat.

A few years ago, the cop went down the south side if the dike road and wrote everyone there tickets. My friend was one of them. They had a bunch of people complain becasue the sign by the boat ramp has arrows showing that the rule only includes a certian area by the boat ramp. In the end everyone that recieved a ticket got a check in the mail returning the fine money. Since then I do not think he has writen any one a ticket. Plus, they have put in the little access road for emergancy vehicals that runs parallel to the dike road. They probably put it in for this very reason.
