Lets see your tying stations!

Ok so I wanna start tying and figured I would just make my own table but I want suggestions from the people that have been tying. I have looked at a bunch of pictures online but I want to hear what you like, don't like, what you would change, all that sorta stuff. I don't want something too big cuz I don't have a ton of space.

I just got started as well with a $19 bamboo cutting board from Wally World to which I added a few drilled holes. Picked up some plastic drawers, threw in free packing foam and wha-bam - fly tying desk.

I already had the Ott light (6500k = daylight) and the magnifying glass. I could live without the Ott light but not the magnifier.

I plan to add some dowels for thread holders. The black box in the back is an iPod player.

So far so good but I can tell I'm going to need a lot more drawers.

I made this box back in high school. It fits all my stuff and is pretty compact at 10x16x8 inches. The large tray got too heavy and the support pieces were too weak so I just put the trays in the lid when it's open.

I did a write-up of this same topic the other day: http://www.flyfishfood.com/2013/03/fly-t...-best.html

Nothing fancy, but along with these other setups, it might give you some other ideas...

Thanks everyone for the pics! This is what I came up with. I just sits on top of a tv tray so I can move it around easy or just set it on the coffee table. Still need to do some more to it but it does the job for now.

Suggestion (because it has happened to me) might want to move your vise to the side of the base so if you drop a hook it will not get lost on the floor.[Smile]
