Those of you who know me are aware that I can be a cantankerous and sometimes cynical old fart. That being said - if ya don't like it I ain't sorry. Now for the youngun - I met him on UL one day and came to the conclusion that he's a pretty likable kid. Now, I know that none of us were ever kinda (or really) cocky in our youth were we? You really can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar so be nice.

As for you FFL, when they start shootin' atcha jist duck an be quiet.

The fact that you have to put up a post to defend his actions says volumes.

Actually, no. It was called respect and paying your dues. However, I have nothing against FFL or the Twins. They are all likable young men. I think they like to fan the flames a bit, but just take it for what it is worth.
Even though they don't come across that way, they do read and I think learn from what they read.
I think the fact that you and whom ever else, once they meet, they feel closer and can take the joking. But, others...just not gonna fly[Tongue]

I would never say that about you. It says volumes referred to anyone having to say anything at all, why would you have to?

Your defense of months of his actions because you met him and he seems like able doesn't jive with about every post I've read or been involved with him. Actions have repercussions and he has made his bed, he gets to sleep in it.

He's annoying, but he can't help it. All teenage boys are little more than sloshing sacks of hormones, with no experience to handle it. They all absolutely believe they are supermen, both infallible and invulnerable. (That's exactly why military age is 18, ya know...)

I've poked fun at him about his writing, too. But again, it's not completely his fault; today's schools don't teach grammar. No youngsters today can read or write worth a darn.

It isn't just youngsters. Try driving the posted speed limit. I'm betting at least 90% of Utah drivers are illiterate. They gotta be. They can't read the signs, and that includes a lot of cops.

You set the bar high on reading numbers and the speed limit. Utah drivers don't get the red light or red sign means stop . I made the mistake of stopping at a red light before turning right last summer. Got rear ended within the second I was stop. Should have just blown through at 20 mph like the guy in front of me and the one behind me was trying to do. And those confusing lines and lanes. My wife got hit a week ago because the women behind her in the next lane over didn't see her stop. Of course she was 2 feet over partially in my wives lane because that's how many drive around here. The lady did get a ticket for texting and reckless driving but a lot of good that does us.
My son teenage son reads and writes far better than me. I see people of all ages who have problems with this. It's not limited to any age once you get to be a teenager and above.
I say cut FFL some slack everyone. You don't have to read his post or replies if you don't want to. I certainly don't begin to read everyone's post. I don't even have my profile settings to notify me if some replied to my post or sent me a pm.

I have also fished with FFL and can say that he was very polite to my wife and children. He is also more than willing to give info on "hotspots" for my children. I think think he is a good young man, just misunderstood.

Laughing here, riverdog. "My son teenage son reads and writes far better than me" should be "My son teenage son reads and writes far better than I."

So perhaps you are right!

I follow your suggestion with all posters: if it's too poorly written for me to puzzle out, I just skip it - and never reply.

[#800000]The young man known as FFL around these parts may in fact be a likable and polite young man when confronted in person. However, his chat forum etiquette is deplorable. Not having met him in person, I can only guess at why that might be. But I’ve heard that he emigrated here from another country and English is not his primary language. IF that is true, then his grammar skills can be excused.[/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]

[#800000]As a guess, I’d have to say that his main problem is that he isn’t mature enough to recognize that disagreements with his opinion are nothing more than disagreements with his opinion; NOT personal attacks on himself OR his opinion. His responses to such disagreements with his opinion are often lashed out against as if they were a slap-in-the-face, full-out, 100% personal attack.[/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]

[#800000]After a short while, mature folks take a distinct dislike of his childish outbursts and temper tantrums and belittle him for his poor grammar and his immature rants. As was stated earlier, he, like many others, is hiding behind his computer without fear of being physically assaulted as might be the case were he to voice such ravings in person. I have no personal dislike of the young man, because I’ve not had a chance to meet him in person and actually form an opinion of him. But his poor grammar and his childish and immature attitude on these boards leave much to be desired as far as I’m concerned.[/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]

[#800000]He has every right to be here and post whatever he desires to post within the guidelines of the forum. But I’m under no obligation to read his posts and will continue to not do so until I see some evidence that his maturity level has increased to an adult level.[/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]

[#800000]That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.[/#800000]
I’m pretty sure that was a rhetorical question, but what the heck, it’s a slow day. The main reason I read THIS thread was because it was started by Geezer, not FFL. If FFL starts a thread, I never open it unless it gets to be 3 or more pages long. When his threads (FFL) get to be 3 or more pages it usually means he (FFL) is at it again with his childish attitude and immature rants and its time for me to get a good laugh. Also, FFL has not bothered to respond on this thread – yet – so I’m still good with my story and I’m still sticking to it. But thanks for asking.

We have ask him to try and not get involved in these type of threads, they serve no useful purpose other than letting members vent their feeling but we don't want they to turn into a bash FFL fest either.
