A near 6lb smallie 20 inches in lenth and near big around as a foot ball. Caught Fryday 2-8-13. I caught the mail counter part the next day about 10 feet from where I caught this one, and yes they went back in just as quick as a photo.

Awesome fish!
I've been spending more time on the ice then gretzky this season. Started out trying to check fish off my list but I got distracted after my first eye.
Perfect season around here with consistent ice friendly weather, low water levels and not too much snow. Many nice largemouths but no smallmouth yet.

well, as most of you know, we hit near 70* last sunday, we sat out there and watched the ice melt between beers and shots.

the only one who caught any fish to speak of was the only one who was not soaking up the sudz.[:p]

how ever I did manage to pick up a few gills and another 10 inch walleye.

Monday the rain set in, making ice conditions extreamly hazzardous. so I suggest if your in the south east michigan area you stay off the ice unless you have your affairs in order.

Sounds like the same story we have around here. Ice is going fast for this year but we did sqeeze in one more ice fishing day in today. I got the skunk but my friend caught a nice Cutthroat.

Nice cut, for sure......

I went out Saturday and caught 6 smallish trout and 6 good perch at Cascade. I'm going to put the ice gear away now. I think a guy could still be safe this coming Saturday, but beyond that I think you'll be pushing the limits. Hope you all have a great summer.

nice lookin fish, we dont have any of those around these parts.

the steelhead are running now on the west side of the state.

I might see if I can find me a box of worms and try to find me a couple white horse suckers this weekend. susposed to be 41 and sunny.

but ya, I am starting to put my stuff away. reclame my reels from my ice rods and put them back on my summer rods.

we had a short season again this year, maybe next season will give us a full 2 months if not 3 like we are susposed to have.
