Lake Mohave Smallmouth Spawn 3/13
#1
One of the best trips of my life. There are beds absolutely everywhere--I did a pretty good job with the pictures so there isn't much to say lol We caught countless smallmouth up there. It was glassy, warm, and dream like. I feel complete Smile

What part of the lake were you on and what were you using?

We used logan specials by canyon plastics most all of the time, we also used a creature bait called the hog impact by keitech that you can buy at pro tackle marine, and rip baits were catching some hefty ones too. We would just cruise until we passed a rock, some sticks, or a stump, and there'd be a fish every time. We came into a cove with a lot of stumps with beds beneath them like in the pictures, and I could literally drop that logan special onto an empty bed, tap it for a while and out of nowhere a smallmouth would swim up, get on bed, nose the bait, and attack it. ALL DAY LONG! It was magic. I'll be back there this weekend to try and get a video of that.

By the way, the bass were just starting to come up and bed--I'd say they'll be full spawn by the end of this month. We'd see some really nice size females swimming about 20-30 feet down, and in some coves they were already on beds. Almost had a beauty, but she shook the hook in mid air Sad

Gvec, I forgot to tell you that we were at the end of 6 mile road and worked down about 7-8 more miles to where the coves start

Glad to see a fisherman that actually knows how to catch bass. Use to live in Ehrenburg, Arizona. No one there could catch a thing, except once in a while. Neither could I.[crazy]

Is Mohave good for cats? I like to troll for them, I hardly ever still fish or anchor a boat, especially in clear water.
