Hi Everyone,
I wanted to join the forum here to get tips, give tips or just enjoy the stories. I've been fishing all my life, 57 years. I started in the mid-west where I grew up in Indiana. I've also lived in Colorado, California and now live in Oregon. I've enjoyed fishing all over the US, Mexico and Canada and have visited every US state but love Oregon the most. The mountains Rivers and Ocean here can't be beat in my opinion.
It's hard to say what my favorite fishing is. I've caught all kinds of fish. From pan fish, catfish, carp, bass, walleye, pike as well as Salmon & Steelhead. Fishing in Mexico I caught 100lb marlin and tuna and in Alaska 50lb halibut. My biggest fish however are sturgeon right here near home in the Columbia river. I've caught several over 8 feet long around 300-400 lbs. I love to see them jump. But my favorite might be fishing in the ocean surf for red-tail perch. It's fun to play in the waves.

I hope I can learn something here. There is always more to learn and I'd love help you out too if you have any questions. I have learned a few tricks over the years.
Just Glad to be here,
Rickyrf

Rick, your right next door. Sturgeon fishing in the columbia river is a lot of fun. I've never got one as big as you got. I've seen them caught in boats all around me.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm sure I'll enjoy it and I'm sure you'll get one those huge over-sized sturgeon if you keep trying. I've caught them on both sand shrimp and the back strap from a whole shad.

Too bad they cut down the keepers to one fish per year. I guess it's pretty much just catch and release from now on.
good luck
