Hit Hyrum Saturday and didn't do very well. Got five fish 11-12 inchers and very fat nice fish. Asked rangers how many fish with tags had been caught so far. He said about 30 as of noon Saturday. How have everyone else been doing? Last year we hit 10 to 20 fish a trip so this year I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Later J

I've run into a few, and have seen some real toads from some of the bass-masters.
Probably a bit chilly still. Done best around the cars I guess. But - lots of opportunity to donate hardware to the underwater snaggles. Some of the submerged wood and brush along the south side, or if you can get into the upper area East - from the inlet. Not sure how high the water level is yet.

Well you did better then I did. Fished from 1-4 pm Sunday and only had 2 bites, neither one hooked up. Used all the usual trolling lures. Nightcrawlers in the trees by the inlet. Didn't see anybody else catch anything neither. That was the only time I had all weekend.
On a side note, please spread the word about not prepping a boat on the ramp whether launching or recovering. I mentioned it to a guy that was blocking the ramp while four people were waiting inline, he was clueless. His wife threw me the daggers like how dare I say anything. Pull back into a parking spot people, out of the way. Thanks for letting me rant.

I don't ever try for the bass over there, but I have caught a few little ones by mistake while trolling for trout. I've seen others catch a few, but that has been later in the summer when the weeds start to grow. Sorry I'm not much help. Later J

I hope they will put on the feed bag for ya. It's been a little slow for me this year. I've got 8 fish in two trips. Last year we got that many in an hour. I have been missing a lot of hits this year, they don't seem to know how to hang on. It's still okay fishing, I always get a couple, but I was just spoiled last year I guess. Good luck J

The other boats I talked to, seemed to have similar numbers to ours on Saturday, but they were trolling extremely fast so I was surprised they had caught any. You were trying the extremely tough time of day to buy a bite so its good you got any attention.
I thought you were out to Dads overnight. He said there was a boat out in the hole most of the night. I was going to ask how you did, but it must have been someone else. I hear that article in the paper really drew the crowd out there this weekend. Did have a neighbor catch a couple cookie cutters up east on Saturday. Yote and company are looking at a flotilla 2 for sometime soon and asked me to give dog guy a heads up. So keep an eye out for that in the next couple weeks if you're interested. We were talking about a Cutler Canyon venture this year. Well good luck and we'll catch ya later. J

Thanks for the heads up. I plan on using my fly rod(s) with woolly buggers for trout with spoons on my spinning rods as back up. Also ultra light for jigging. With the weather change tomorrow I wonder what that will do.

You may have just the right thought with the fly. I seen a lot of fish up top each time the breeze let up. They weren't after dry flys but they were rolling close to the surface. Water temp was right on 50 degrees. Only a couple power squadron on Saturday so you should be okay there. Check my PM for a little other info. Later J

Yote water level is probably about full, it's way up compared to end of summer. Just FYI in case you decide to leave the kitties alone and chase a trout. Later J
