Made it out in the marsh today with a couple buddies and got into some big mamas!
Man is that good clean fun, and running a 55 black death Sport H didn't hurt either!

I put an arrow through a 15lb-er that took out 50' of line before I could pull him back!
just think of my bow as a 20wt and my arrow as a steel streamer...

I hooked one that literally took me 20 minutes to get it in and then I still needed help netting, but that was a #12 hook....
I was in 1' of water wishing I had a SUP so I could stand and see them better. I see the attraction to the arrow.

I've never seen that place, does that "marsh" have fish besides carp?

I don't know actually...I'd imagine it may have some cats but it's pretty shallow, never more than a few feet and you're unlikely to access much without a mud motor and a duck boat!
Come fall we never see any fish out there so they must only be here for the spawn I'd guess

Now that I think about it, your place looks familiar. I have no idea where I saw it but I believe i've seen it a few times when my dad has taken us fishing somewhere. I remember asking him if that spot has fish and he says he didn't know. Have you seen a creek/river that goes into it? Maybe Carp just grow huge but if they do spawn like you said, it must be fairly big to hold that large of carp.

what I heard is that the last 3 state records came from this area, it puts powell to shame for big carp!
The biggest one we shot yesterday was around 25lbs and nothing we shot was under 10lbs, incredible to see them podded up like that with their huge tails sticking out of the water!

I guess Carp are tough but I'm surprised they can survive the winter if its only a couple feet deep. How big is that marsh? I'm also surprised it has that big of fish since it sounds like its pretty popular to shoot carp at.

Nice work! Keep it up.
When they're grouped up all thick like that, do you ever stab a double? That'd be sweeeeeeeet.[cool]

Not sure if you're on the same part of "the marsh" as I frequent - but you got me thinnin' it's time for some bow sticking! Last spring off Valley View - went cattin, and stupid carp even took my shrimp! At 31+ inches - it was still a fun run!
I have a spare oar I use for "pole-ing" through the muddy muck. Amazing how shallow the frolic.
Looks like a fun and productive outing. Now go get 3000 more!

Nice jon boat but its missing the bow mount trolling motor, then it'll be cooler[cool],one of them airboat style fan motors would be cool too!
Dat's what I'm looking into for upgrading my jon boat[shocked]

[#0000FF]Just ignore him...but he probably won't go away. His ego is too big for him to stay in Florida, where he belongs. Check his posts. He is all over the boards trying to convince folks how great he is...and handing out info and advice that is totally inappropriate for the waters and species involved.
You done good.

We do have big Carp here in Utah, but it depends on the waters. I fish the Jordan River as you know, but I can go 5 miles and catch nothing under 30" then turn around and fish within walking distance and catch 20+".
These look GREAT to me!
