Where to go for service on Cannon electric down riggers???

I got a call today from a fellow wanting to know where to take his electric Cannon down rigger for service. He is in SLC. I told him that I didn't know but that I would ask you all here on BFT. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What kind of problem is your friend having with his rigger? If it is the motor, I took my remote troll motor( windshield wiper motor), to Chic's Armature in Ogden and vthey overhauled it for $40 plus tax.

I have rebuilt an old pair of mini mags by myself. You will find that cannon no longer has motors in stock for these older riggers. If the motors are not working, you cannot just replace the brushes like on most electric motors. There are no brushes to replace because the motors are sealed and cannot come apart. Cannon uses window regulator motors form Mercedes Benz. I believe they have a 14 tooth gear very important for torque. New motors cost $75 each and are well worth the money to rebuild them rather than buying a new rigger. Good luck.
