Never caught a bass on a fly
#1
I have never caught a bass on my fly rod, just convinced my wife that this needs to happen soon. I plan on hitting deer creek early Friday morning. I have a good idea on what I should use, but does anyone have advice on what area of the reservoir I should try?

In the early morning I caught my bass on poppers and some extremely small #12 woolly bugger that I make.

I can tell you California Mohair Leech on a Type II line. As for where, I caught a bunch just off the rocky shore line to the south of the State boat launch.
Let us know how you do.

Thanks for the help everyone! I went out Friday morning to Wallsburg, brought the float tube along but it was pretty windy so I fished from the shore. Started out with crawdad imitations and within the first few casts got a 12 incher, unfortunately it was the biggest of the day, continued to use the same fly for the 2 hours before I had to leave, caught several more between 8-11 inches. Wish I had taken some pics to post, maybe next time.
