Hopefully the waters ok and they actually find the cause. If it's not the water I would look at the kids that are out there constantly chasing and throwing stuff at anything that moves.

Does anyone have any idea when FLP will be re-opened to fishing? Or a good alternative. My girls have been bugging me about taking them out fishing again and since FLP was our go to fishing hole I'm trying to figure out a good substitute, besides Sunset Park. Thanks everyone.

lorenzi is out of the question due to re-modeling, there is always boulder city pond, or mesquite pond. but I would just go to lake mead, take some worms/mealworms and fish for green sunfish and baby bass under a bobber good luck [fishon]

Where would you suggest to fish at lake mead that does not require extensive hiking to get to? My kids are 3 and 5 years old and I would like to keep the hiking to a minimum. Mostly, because I rather not have to carry them both out because they get tired. Lol

Depending on what type of vehicle you have you can get pretty close to shore, or even drive right up to it at government wash, 8 mile rd, and crawdad cove.

The roads are all pretty rough though so I would suggest not going in a car.

And to when Floyd lamb will reopen... I talked to the gate people yesterday and they had no idea. They said the results aren't expected for at least another week, beyond that they really didn't seem to know much on what was going on down there.

Yeah, I have fished government wash before and hole 33. Both have required a lot of hiking to find the fish. Unfortunately, all I have is a car. Does anyone know if you can get to kingman wash in a car or do you need an truck or SUV?

Great, I figured it would taken at least a month to figure things out. Oh well, I'm moving to Henderson in a month so I'll have to find another go to fishing hole.

I used to take my 2WD Dodge Dakota down to Kingman Wash, but never tried it in a car. It's a pretty rough and long road (I think about 3 miles of dirt). But I don't know if i'd try it in a small car.

I have seen cars down there before. I have gone down there in a 2WD Toyota Tacoma. Just go slow and play it smart, follow the tire paths from other cars/trucks.

There is a sandy wash area that a small car will have to follow the tracks. On the way back there are two steep slope/hills. If your tires start to slip try taking the hill at an angle.

Last thing for a small car or truck, is stay away from big rocks, soft dirt & sand. First timers should go with a friend and a second car.

NDOW's fishing report on 8/8/13 stated Floyd Lamb is still closed.
URBAN PONDS
The urban ponds are scheduled to be stocked with channel catfish the week of August 12. Lorenzi Park will also receive catfish. The park’s grand reopening will take place August 17. At Sunset Park, largemouth bass and bluegill are plentiful but tend to hit best in the early morning hours. The ponds at Floyd Lamb Park remain closed until further notice.

Man i hope they open it soon. I find it funny regarding Sunset. I have been there numerous times when i started fishing again and seen a total of 4 bass. 3 (about 1-1.5lbs) that school together that do laps around the pond and one that looked about 5-6lbs. Neither of them even flinch when you throw anything at them. I have never seen a bluegill there. If FLP remains closed, I will have to try and catch those 4 bass!

I am done with sunset! The pond sucks i have never caught a fish there. The water is nasty, the people are hood rats,i had this one guy ask me if i wanted a carp!I seen a huge bass there and flipped a jig in front of it and it didn't even look.I have swore to myself that i am never going there again.I have tried every thing!I am going to kingmans wash, i go spearfishing there and see tons of big smallmouth and large mouth. You can only shoot carp and striper spearfishing so anything else is illegal.I don't eat bass anyway.I just have fun catching them.I really hope they open floyd lamb soon.

Nothing to see here folks!

The test results were "inconclusive" and the water is safe.... Just ignore that one of the ponds is not open because it's going through "maintenance."

Do they really expect people to believe that? Obviously something was wrong with the water and the Maintenance is to correct the problem. Maybe they need to tell the public what was really in the water, especially for the people who may have ate the fish.

Thanks for reminding why i stopped going there and why i shouldnt go there. FLP is supposed to open today so I'll wait to see what happens.

Wow, I have been going to Sunset a lot since FLP closed to fishing. I have been catching lots of bluegill and small LMB. On Thursday, I caught a good size cat too. Granted, I prefer fishing a FLP but Sunset has been a good substitute to get my fishing fix.
