Well guys, I've never tried to put pics on here before so I hope this works, but here goes.
I took my little fishing buddies out on Friday evening to hopefully catch a biggun or two and it went better than I hoped for. We started by making a trek down to the marina to fish off the dikes, but there was a small army of deer hunters killing time fishing before the hunt got underway the following morning. It was still early enough to do a "plan B" so I quickly hooked up the boat and ran for the boat ramp at 1st point. Had about an hour left before dark after I got launched and rigged up.
After having to come back to the dock for an emergency(kids drank too much soda if you get my drift), I started trolling north of the ramp in 20' of water just dragging a rainbow rapala and a meps cyclops. We made it about 300 yards and "fish on"! It was a pain to steer the boat, tend lines and deal with the inevitable kid tangles, but by the time dark hit we had four landed. All in 15-20' of water just trolling in the top of the water column. Each of my two daughters caught two. They kept one each(28"&32") and turned loose the other two. These were their biggest fish ever and they haven't quit grinning yet!
Now, just in case someone is upset about keeping them, we usually keep about 6 per year this size to put in bottles. Tastes just like canned salmon! Besides, I didn't have the heart to make them throw their best fish back.
Anyway, fun as always and the fish are VERY fat compared to years past.
