Henry's Lake Ice?
#1
How are the temps at Henry's? Hope it's getting cold. Hoping to hit the hard deck for Thanksgiving. Crossing my fingers!

I reported last week that a lot of ice had formed around the State Park area. I went back today and almost all the ice from last week is gone. Last week there was no chance of launching a boat, today-no problem. Ice free all the way to the ramp. The bad news is the ramp is closed for repairs starting tomorrow, 9/11, for two or three weeks so launching from trailers will be out of the question but bank fishing and pontoons should work. Today, at 2:30, was 47 degrees with a warm week predicted so time will tell the future of the ice.

Anyone know what the ice prognosis is this week? I'm looking to do an end-of-season trip there on Friday if I can get a pontoon on the water.

Looking at the weather this morning, it looks as thought it will be taking a quick hard dive in temp by Thursday. It might be a last minute trip, Kel.....can I come[Wink]

I tried to fish off the bank today . The ice was out about 100 yards at the State Boat dock . The outlet is froze from the main lake back to the dam .

Craziest thing I have ever seen was a guy with two pieces of 4x8 plywood. He pushed the one on to the thin ice, grabbed his rod, bait, and a hammer and crawled onto the plywood. He then slid the second piece to a spot in front of the first and worked his way on to the lake. One hit with hammer and he was through the ice....Either he has cahonees the size of soft balls or just dumb as a box of rocks. Or maybe he is an ice fisherman like us desparate for some sort of hard deck.[Image: happy.gif]

Smarter than the Utahn at Chesterfield last season fishing by himself on two inches. I know its a long drive, but there's no reason to risk it being your last long drive.

Maybe I prefer not to risk friends and family on thin ice. Or my fat buddy flaked on me. First ice, a fat friend will be your best friend.

pucker up and fish!!!
