Fish finder info thank you / showdown 12v battery help
#1
Thanks for all of the people putting sometime on my other thread for the advice what too get. I'm loving the showdown big time. Struggling trying too figure out where my bait is if it's in the right depth is finally over. I love how I can see where my bait is and watch the fish going after it.

My next question is does anyone know how too use a 12v battery on that bad boy because the cold weather roached out my double A battery too the point they had too be in my pocket. No fun.

As well what sensitivity do you guys use on it as well. I usually put it on 15 or 20.
What do you guys recommend?

I'll let you know soon -- just bought one on fleabay.

The owner's manual for the Performance Pack says there is a quick-connect on the bottom of the flasher unit. No photo, but read about it here:

Sounds good. Pretty sure someone else will beat you first but if you get the info back at me asap I'd really appreciate it. I love that showdown troller. Scheel's had only one left on the floor and in stock so apparently I was the lucky guy that day too snag it because the guy's said they sold the other model in matter of days.

You will need to get the soft case for it. pricey but well worth it IMHO. Also I keep my sensitivity between 8 and 12 a little higher when I use 2 poles. Hope this helps and congrats on the purchase.

After reading the manual for the unit itself, it seems to say there is a pigtail power connector on the transducer cable. The optional 12v battery may attach there. Manuals are downloadable from marcum if you didn't get one.

Did you have the screen heater (ICE mode) and/or the backlight on? Those two would suck the juice from AAs pretty quick, I'd bet.

Ya man I just dropped my prices what ever I'm selling on ksl and hope someone something soon so I can buy the soft case. Thanks for the sensitivity info.
Thanks too you guys who opened you hands too tell me what too get and I truly love the show down. Just a new level for watching my bait and the fish coming up for it. The only down side is that if you fish ponds that are like 3-5ft. It wont read fish swimming around nor your bait.

Ya I was looking around but couldn't find it. Don't know if I'm just that blind or just reading it through it too fast. Might check it out one more time and Sadly yes had my back light on but after a while having the battery in my pocket they came back a live. Yesterday was a pretty cold day especially while using it in the early morning.

Love mine also, made an adaptor for the 12v. By taking the unite to radio SK. get the right plug to fit the male end adaptor on the show down cable. Then a length of wire an two clips that fit the 12 v batt. and your in business. The ice case is about 50$ but and worth it, holds the SD and the batt. BUT. You have to open up the case after a trip and let it all dry out or bad things happen.. Also a price of flotation helps manage the transd.. better. Is it true that hook sets are free? If so use them up.

Do you know where I could buy a really small foam that would fit on the wire?

I use a price of pink insulation foam cut out a round or four , cut a slot through the side slip it on the cable. A 4" length of swim noodle works great also.

I bet you could find something that would work at either Boaters World or Marine Products. I remember when I was young seeing floating key chains. They are small and would probably work or the noodle things at walmart.

[#0000FF]I have a soft case you can have. I bought the regular model but I modified the setup and carry it in another bag arrangement.

Hey ffl, im a little slow but just saw your post. Im attaching some pics of my setup on the troller to seeif this will help you out. i had a cabelas underwater camera which i hated, so i sold the tv and kept the battery. Its a 12 v and i think you can pick them up just about anywhere, but especially at places like batteries plus. Mine had a charger that came with the battery and has 2 terminals to hook the showdown to. I definitely recommend the soft bag because it includes the holder and battery case for a 12 v battery. Hopefully these shots will show you the rig. The 12 volt totally makes all the difference for ice time, i can fish for several days on one charge with the 12 vs a few hours for double a's.
Glad to hear you like your unit, ive been really happy with mine and they really make a lot of difference seeing your bait and the fish.

Btw, i set mine at about 12- 15 and i see everything. And the blue clothes pin in the pic acts as a stopper for the cable because my son dropped rhe rubber stopper that comes with the soft case down a hole last winter.

I will usually set the sensitivity all the way down until I can't see my bait, then increase it until I can plus one or two clicks. That way anything bigger than my bait will show up on my screen without any added interference. So I'm usually between 6 and 8 on my sensitivity.

I have the performance pack and it's well worth the $50. I love the troller's features. The sensitivity and noise reduction are great. The only feature that didn't live up to their promise is that you could walk along and test for fish through the ice.
My real frustration is that after using it all of last season all of the extra features beyond the depth and fish finding stopped working. I called Marcum and they wouldn't walk me through any trouble shooting and just said to send it to them. They said I had to pay for the shipping. I should have bought the troller at Cabela's. At least they have great customer service and will take back any product that is defective.

If the ice is clear enough it will shoot thru it even if its real thick. Sometime I've gotta add a drop of water under the transducer tho.
