I'm too dependent on my vexilar
#1
My transducer went bad during my last trip. I didn't feel like going this morning even though I could have gone. I just feel like I'm fishing blind without my vex. New transducer coming in a week.

I know exactly what you mean.[frown] Luckily, I have a showdown as my backup, so I'm going to go tomorrow anyway.

I would vote yes you are too dependent. Nothing wrong with fishing blind its just like fishing a new area ya have to figure it out. One of these days you guys are going to have to show me what all the hype is about

My finders are attached to my bass boat so I just fish my waypoints with my handheld. I have hummingbird side scan and have hundreds of waypoints. If you see me out away from the crowds, come on out and chat.

I agree love the vex! I forgot it yesterday believe it or not, but in a way it was good the bite was so light that I got into the habit of watching my line for the fainest movement. It took me an hour or so to realize the fishing was actually pretty good.
Sometimes a mistake can help develop new methods. Either way, I know my Vex will be in the sled tomorrow.

It stopped working on me during my last trip. I found the fuse was blown. I put a new fuse in, but it still wouldn't power up. I'm an electronics technician by trade, so I did some testing on it and found that power was getting to the console, but it still won't power up. I bought it at Cabelas, so I took it back (only had it since May and they have a 1 year over the counter warranty). They said the fastest way to get back up would be for them to give me a refund and then order a new one. So that's the route we went. When I went in to order the new one, I found they have a $100 rebate on that unit. So, I'm getting a new unit in 5 days and then $100 dollars in a few weeks (however long the rebate takes). Can't beat that with a fishing rod. I only hope the new one is more reliable, cause I sure love the unit.

(the above was pasted from another thread so I didn't have to re-type the whole story). [Smile]

Heading to Cascade tomorrow, then I'll probably go somewhere on either Friday or Saturday, but haven't decided where yet.

Speaking of wanting cameras...fished Henry's today and caught a grand total of one fish. I put my camera in to see what was up. Had countless fish come in, kiss the bait and spook. Tried 2.5 lb fluorocarbon, smaller hooks. Smaller jigs. Small flies. Result was the same. They'd come charging in then touch it without ever putting it in their mouth and swim off. Frustrating. Plus the weather was terrible all day long to add to it. I'll appreciate the next nice day for sure. Better figure it out tomorrow or it will be a mystery for ten more months
